Free health screening at charity bazaar

KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 – Free health screening will be available for visitors at a charity bazaar organised by the country’s pioneer family health organisation, Selangor and Federal Territory Family Reproductive Health Association (SWP Freha) in collaboration with an entertainment event company Eventure, Kuala Lumpur on May 3.

The bazaar, starting at 9.30am and to be held at the association’s premises, No. 28, Lorong Syed Putra Kiri, off Jalan Syed Putra (beside Wisma Belia) will feature a children’s drawing contest, henna designing for women, jumble sales and foodstalls. Association secretary Wan Azizah Wan Talib said the proceeds from the bazaar would be used for various activities like counselling, HIV testing, family planning services, cancer screening, pap smear testing and fertility treatment.

The proceeds will also be used to carry out projects for disabled persons and disadvantaged youths, especially from the shelters, orphanages and juvenile centres. Wan Azizah said since its inception in October 1953, the association which was formerly known as the Selangor Family Planning Association, had helped thousands of middle-class, urban poor and disabled persons to get proper medical treatment and advice. She appealed to big businesses especially multinationals to support the association either in kind or cash.

All cash donations above RM100 will be exempted from income tax. For further information, call our Eventure, Kuala Lumpur headquarters at 03-22743489 or email to admin@eventurekl.com. – Bernama
